Peter Kafka

I’m an emerging abstract and mixed-media artist, living and working on Bundjalung Country in Lismore, Australia.

After many years in corporate work, painting became a daily practice and a new creative direction.

My work explores transformation, memory and the relationship between darkness and light. I work intuitively across several pieces, responding to what each surface offers and allowing time between passes. The painting often takes me somewhere I could not have planned.

Earlier explorations of triangles and impossible geometry continue within an increasingly loose and organic visual language. Structure meets gesture; tension gives way to movement.

Peace, love and harmony sit beneath my practice. Through colour, texture and partly concealed messages, I hope to invite connection and leave space for viewers to find their own meaning.
